PLPA Supports Young Musicians

CHIMING IN: Shelley Patton (right, holding microphone) presents a giant $1,000 check to the CHIME IN! program, which benefits all music programs in the Chimacum School District.

Patton is a board member of Port Ludlow Performing Arts, a non-profit organization that promotes music education and raises money by staging concerts in Port Ludlow. The presentation was made Sunday, April 23, at a silent auction/fundraiser hosted by Finnriver Farm & Cidery in Port Hadlock.

Pictured from left are CHIME IN! supporters Marci Heemstra, Stella Paterson, Rebecca Turner and Carla Powell, Shelley Patton of PLPA, and Chimacum School Music Director Mitch Brennan.

In March, PLPA hosted a concert at the Bay Club, performed by a group of Port Townsend High School musician/students. The concert, a fundraiser, was well-attended and received ahead of the students’ trip to Southern California, where they had the opportunity to participate in a music clinic, attend a performance of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, visit a college campus, and play in a music festival.

The Free Outdoor Summer Concert Returns!

Black Diamond Junction returns to Port Ludlow for an outdoor concert that is free to anyone and everyone who wishes to come. It’s in the same location as the previous two outdoor concerts – the grassy field next to the Grace Christian Center – and the reason it’s free is because of yet another generous donation from Terri Ross.

A quintet led by three gifted guitar-playing singer-songwriters, each contributing to the writing and 3-part harmonies that define their sound. Their songs appeal to fans of modern folk-rockers, such as John Mayer and Jason Mraz, and their lush harmonies harken back to Sixties and Seventies super-groups such as the Eagles and Simon & Garfunkel.
